After repairing the broken tie rod ajusting tube up american fork canyon, and getting home at 8 pm. I looked online for a solution to this problem, and found a article by Mark Cabral, "jeep tj tie rod conversion". in it, he replaced the tj tie rods and adjusting tube with 98 grand cherokee tie rods. this eliminates the adjusting tube, which is the weak link. the grand cherokee parts are much stronger because the truck is bigger and its carrying a v8 on top of the front end. these parts bolt up to the tj perfectly. I did this conversion in a few hours and aligned the front end by taping two pieces of copper pipe to the outside of my tires and measured the toe in. make a long story short, IM TICKLED. today i tested it, it feels solid and stable at all speeds, on the freeway doing 65 i can take my hands off the steering wheel and the jeep tracks straight and true. and my steering wheel is straight now, it never has been as long as Ive owned it, and this was a cheap fix and stronger upgrade. IM TICKLED!
