I just accepted a job in SCL that will start mid August. I will be looking for an active club to join when I get there. My Jeep is registered as a 93 YJ, but not much of the original Jeep is left. You know how it goes...

Welcome. Try and post up some pic. Where will you be working at and where are you moving from?

Moving from Northern California to somewhere in Salt Lake City. I'll be working close to the airport. A house hunting trip is in order. Any suggestions on good areas?

I am currently a member of the Wine Country Rock Crawlers. They are a great bunch of people. There are many pics of my rig posted on their web site:

Well each person has there own perfect place so it all depends on what you need around you. We lived in Tooele and we loved it. The down side is you are away from a lot of the major stores but that have gotten bigger since we moved. I also worked off of 80 and 5600w near the airport. I would ride the bus to and from work so that was a bonus if your okay with the bus. Also they do not do emissions out there. But my real advice would be to find a place to rent and then you can look around once you are out there. Good luck with the move and if you are hiring send me the info I really want to move back.

I agree, there are a lot of good areas. I currently live in Syracuse. Like Tooele it is aways away from everything. I love it and hate it. I love feeling like I am in the country, and it is nice and quiet and peaceful at night, but I hate the commute.

I lived in Holladay before that. If I could afford the size of house I need/want I would still live there.

The areas in my opinion that you need to be careful are Rose Park, West Valley, and Kearns. All of these areas are not bad, but they are known for not being the best.

I also think we have a realtor in the club. Maybe they will see this and chime in and offer some options for you.

No emissions is a bonus. Last year I did a 350 Chevy Vortec motor swap in the jeep and haven't gotten it signed off by the bureau of automotive repair. It should pass because we put in all the emissions crap from the donor truck.

Welcome to the club. There are a lot of nice areas to look. Let me know if I can help you out with your home search if you have not picked an agent yet. My name is Paul Topham and I am a Realtor with Coldwell Banker call me 801-913-1011. Look forward to meeting you on the trail.
